The People Institutions and Ecosystems (PIE) lab conducts research, teaching, and service to:

• understand relationships among people (landowners, loggers, employees), institutions (property rights, policies, norms), and ecosystems (trees, wildlife, crops and their environments)
• improve the design, effectiveness, and legitimacy of natural resources management and conservation

Our work spans forests, wildlife, biodiversity, water quality, agroecosystems, working lands, and protected areas.
